How My Blog Got Started:

Well, originally I was a food blogger…and that went OK for all of 38 minutes. I LOVE food (as do most people), but I didn’t have the creative spark or passion to back food like I do my current blog. I thought the fashion and beauty blog market was SATURATED with a billion beautiful women (like the 15 I tagged below.) I felt that I wouldn’t make anyone’s radar- but I dove in anyways (and- to be 100% honest, I wanted to see if I could score some free swag bags of make-up, let's all just be real)! Eighteen months, one television appearance, and twelve thousand Instagram followers later I realized blogging is my JAM! OMFG! I wrote an in-depth blog post about my career and how it inspired me to become a better blogger HERE. It still blows me away when people mention something that they read on my blog to me in person. I’m SHOOK . Every. Single. Time. Now I am adventuring into Youtube and it's a humbling experience thus far. I cannot wait to see what comes next! Me and my 'puff are gonna ride this thang on out!!!

Two Small Pieces of Advice:

Be consistent with engagement:  Everyone says “Be Consistent” but unless you are a full time blogger posting weekly is ROUGH. For the first year of my blog I posted every week. I discovered that I was so focused on making content that I missed out on all the fun and engagement in-between.  Weekly post also lessened my quality of writing. When you are in a rush IT SHOWS and if you ‘consistently’ post TRASH nobody will read it. Aight, so Boom.  Now I post every other week and spend lots more time connecting with PEOPLE and making time to meet with PEOPLE IN REAL LIFE.

BE a Woman who Supports Women: The people who support you are usually people you support as well. Tell folks why your story matters. Build relationships with like-minded folks and uplift one another. Life is a feeling process. People don’t forget how you made them feel. I’ve been afforded massive opportunities because someone threw my name into a hat or something was brought up in random conversation.  Everyone has enough room to shine. Be kind, stay positive, and everything will fall into place.

*Last piece of advice that I am giving anyways because I break all the rules: Learn how to take your own pictures.

Speaking of SHINING, I would like to nominate the following bloggers for the Blogger Recognition Award. I read a TON of blogs, but these ladies right here are changing the game.
